Falcon’s Could Benefit From J.Long as Top Pick
By now we’ve all heard the news, Jake Long, $30 million garunteed, the number one pick has been set. But what does that mean for Atlanta? Well for one thing, the top talent in this draft is still availible and there’s just one more obstacle to overcome before he ends up as a Falcon.
The Rams could go in two directions with Jake Long off the board, one option is Glenn Dorsey, the other is Chris Long. Obviously Long fills the need at defensive end, but is Dorsey too much talent to pass up at two? They could decide to put Dorsey in the middle and kick Carriker back out to end. However Carriker played pretty well at tackle last season, and just isn’t as good of a pass rusher as Long.

Then there’s the possibility of New Orleans trading up to two to take their home town guy. There’s been a few rumors concerning this trade but it would take alot to move up from pick ten so they’ll really have to like Dorsey to make it happen. While these scenarios remain completely possible, I’m confident our guy will still be sitting there at three.
So what if Dorsey doesn’t make it to three? Matt Ryan definitely is a possibility, but so is Sedrick Ellis who many have forgetten was the top DT canidate for awhile until Dorsey’s stellar combine. Ellis had a fantastic Senior Bowl and a great combine as well, and these two will probably be compared throughout their careers. So it pretty much comes down to those three guys at this point, Glenn Dorsey, Sedrick Ellis and Matt Ryan. Whatever the outcome, the rebuilding process begins Saturday, and a new era in Atlanta Falcon’s football is set to begin.

Yeah I agree with that, I think if the pick was between Jake Long and Dorsey for the Rams it would definitely be Dorsey. Now it’s a toss up….
