A general managers job is to put the players out on the field who gives you the best chance to win. People lose their starting jobs each year - and yes that is tough for them emotionally - but the NFL is a business of winning

Does anyone deny Green Bay had a legitimate shot at a superbowl last year? They have a shot this year also and Aaron Rodgers has not started a single game - he did look pretty good in very limited action - but sustained serious injury in BOTH of his opportunities where he had a couple quarters to play.

Did Favre make a mistake by retiring? yes - Did he waffle about his decison ? yes

When impact players make mistakes - they are often given a second chance - and often drug or violence mistakes

Favre felt pressured to retire and made a hasty decision

The packers have a chance to win this year - does anyone really believe Aaron Rodgers gives the packers a better shot at winning a superbowl than Brett favre ?

Ted Thompson is making a very large gamble here when the team has a real shot at a superbowl - and how often do teams get players together who have a real shot at a championship?

Do your job Ted Thompson - give the packers the bext chance to win a superbowl - get Favre back in uniform
