Big win in ATL

The Falcons came into game one of the 2008 season the concensus worst team in the NFL. What they did was not just prove the critics wrong and beat the pants off of the Lions but they did it is style.

The story of the game was free agent pick-up Michael Turner, with his 220 yards to go with a team figure of 321 yards total rushing.  2 non the ground one receiving TD Turner was just amazing, breaking tackles making guys miss contorting his body to avoid contact. It all worked!

Matt Ryan connects for a TD to Michael Jenkins on his FIRST FREAKING PASS! are you kidding me? Ryan looked calm, controlled and he made the passes he needed to when he needed to. No interceptions thrown and he looked like the player the execs thought he would be.

Jerious Norwood was just great again in backing up Turner. Norwood scores a 10 yard TD and has 93 yards rushing as a back-up! The thing that I love so much about Norwood is that he is such a selfless team first guy. You can see his big smile after a good play as he bounces back to the line for the next play or to the sideline. His love for fottball is so obvious and it is infectious.

The Falcons defensive line looked very solid from the first whistle to the last. John Abraham came in and got 3 sacks (his most in a Falcons uniform). Chris Houston and the rest of the Falcons secondary played simply of out their heads all day, keeping Calvin Johnson and Roy Williams in check all game.

Turner is a really, really good HB. Atlanta has the pieces to play for the NFC Championship in a few years. Your coach didn't knock my socks off with his calls, but he's a rookie so he gets a pass. He still looked better than Miranelli, who was noticeably absent during key points of that game.

Don't get too excited though, I think it's a case of the Lions just being that bad. Credit to you and the Birds though. There is egg on my face for serious. I thought for a second that my team was legit(ish), and could walk into a half full Georgia stadium and get the job done on a rookie coach, a rookie QB, an inexperienced starting line and D and a running back that has never been a starter.
Well...
see you guys in the playoffs in a couple years. Us Lion Fans will be joining the Lions players and Coaches, watching you on TV.
