Mike Smith won. Yep, it’s true. The Falcons rookie head coach had about as great a year as a guy could have and I am really really happy. OK, now that I have cleared that fact I am going to give you a reason why Tony Sparano should have won.
The Dolphins won the division and lost to a better team today in the Ravens. The Falcons lost to the Cardinals (yechh!)
I am a big believer in what is fair is fair and the coach of the year should have gone to Sparano. So am I upset? No! My coach won coach of the year and I wanted him to win. But, I am saying that if this were an issue of fairness then the Dolphins would have that 1 vote advantage over Smith, but they don’t and Smith won so there we go.
Personally I think that the reason the Falcons got it is because we were the biggest story last year because of Michael Vick and the press loves to talk Vick. The Falcons won 4 games last year and the Dolphins won one! But the Falcons had Vick and Vick was a bigger story than a crappy drafted under-performing underachieving bad QB having team in south Florida. So that is my story and I am sticking to it.
