Keith Brooking and Michael Boley are now officially with the Cowboys and Giants and the Falcons have taken a major hit to keeping their team competitive next year.
Curtis Lofton, the second year middle linebacker is suddenly the veteran of the Falcons line backing corps in just one day.
I have to voice my displeasure with the Falcons organization for not getting at least one guy signed and I have to ask why that person wasn’t Boley?
I liked having the last remaining piece of the ‘98 Superbowl team still out there with Brooking. His fire and intensity in full display on every down, but [...]

…and the band played on
When will they ever learn?…
The free agent signing period opened up today with a bang, actually about 100,000,000 of them.
$100,000,000 for 7 years for Albert Haynesworth. I ask only one question to the Washington Redskins. Why give that kind of money to a defensive tackle who, while being a hell of a run stopper and who can get after the QB a little bit too get that kind of cash when he has never played more than 14 games in a season and has had maturity issues (head stomping)?
Why has Daniel Snyder making the same mistakes he has made from years past? Signing big names to even [...]
Lawyer Milloy, one of the Falcons leading tacklers and a big leader on the young secondary and the whole defense is not returning to Atlanta.
According to the AJC “We felt as an organization that it was in the best interests of both parties to go in our own directions and let him test the market in free agency,” Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff said Sunday
This is a big loss for the defense and Milloy will be missed. It is said that Milloy, a Tacoma WA native had said he wants to end his career with the Seattle Seahawks.
I have a secret source who has intimate information about Ray Lewis and his free agent plans. There are other reports saying that DeMarcus Ware said that Ray Lewis said “It is a dream to have the star on his helmet.”
I have a source by proxy and they have said that Ray Lewis has already made his mind up and that the Dallas Cowboys will be his team and that the announcement is only a formality.
Ray Lewis will be a nice addition to what should be a beast of a defense next year barring injuries. I am happy for the [...]
4 Tight ends to watch
The tight end position, few positions have become so crucial to todays NFL.
I have been watching the NFL networks coverage of the combine and I have watched the videos and I am going to list my thoughts on a few standouts that I noticed.
1. The term complete player can be thrown around a bit too much for my taste but the term was used on Jared Cook from the University of South Carolina . The stats are impressive on him, 6′ 5″ 246 lbs. and he can catch and block. Cook recorded a 41″ vertical and a 4.5 40 yard time! He is explosive and [...]
Marvin Harrison will be cut.
I am going to just keep this short and sweet and say that it is really sad to see a great player not staying with his original team. Manning to Harrison has been about as automatic in the last 10 or so years as it gets.
Where ever he ends up I wish him the best of luck.
The Bird
Falcons at the Combine
What a great time of year this is. The NFL combine is just hours away and I am excited as all hell.
Let’s get it started and jump right in with Falcons draft needs shall we?
The birds are doing well in terms of roster issues. Heck we franchised a punter folks! This means that we are in a good enough position to focus on building our team with the best players we can. So the question is where will the Falcons braintrust be looking this year and most importantly who are they looking for?
While I cannot answer the who I can certianly [...]
“With regards to Michael Vick, we’ve decided to seek a trade of his contractual rights to another NFL club,” Dimitroff said in a Q & A with AtlantaFalcons.com. “We took a number of steps in the 2008 season, including using our first pick to draft a quarterback. We feel a trade is the best move for the Falcons, and it’s also in the best interest of Michael.
We knew this was coming it isn’t any kind of surprise but I want to pose a question to all of you readers and ask if your team had a chance at one of [...]
Jamal Anderson Arrested
Ok, so I didn’t break the story but being the resident Falcons fanatic I have to say something right?
Jamal Anderson did a stupid thing and got arrested in an Atlanta nightclub snorting cocaine and was also caught with a joint in his pocket. So how does this make a difference in Falconsland? Not much since the guy is no longer with the team and I won’t say I am disappointed because, personally I don’t think the guy did anything wrong.
First off, should Anderson and his friend who were allegedly snorting lines off of the toilet seat in a nighclub bathroom be punished? I think that snorting [...]
If it happens it could and probably will be a difference maker in the NFC South.
Albert is said to want to stay close to his Tennessee home and Carolina and Atlanta could be two very good possibilities.
If the Falcons can keep Haynesworth away from the Panthers it will be a blessing. If we get him does it mean we are better for it? I am just not sure….
Haynesworth is an impact player. He is strong and is a terror against the opposing offense. He never stops and has to be accounted for on every down. I just get a very bad [...]
