The game was great. The final 29 seconds breathtaking or heartbreaking depending on which team you were rooting for. However you cut it though this game was well super.
The Cardinals did something that I thought could not be done. They made this Superbowl better than what I thought was the best game ever just last year. So, was it really that good? Yes it was folks, yes it was.
The Steelers proved why they deserve to be the only 6 time NFL champion. Commitment to defense and strong drafts and superior coaching prove that fact. But it is the Cardinals that are the more interesting story here because in one year they went from a “team on the rise” to one dragged toe away from NFL champions.
It is the Cardinals that are just such a poorly run franchise historically speaking, that has been such constant doormat to the NFL’s elite and not so elite for so long and to turn it around and beat three quality opponents and come so close in the biggest game of the franchises history really makes me happy. Happy for two reasons:
First of all it gives me hope, hope that my Falcons can and will win the Superbowl someday, maybe very soon. And reason number two: The NFL is the best league out there. What other league can get this kind of turn around? If you give me the Tampa Bay Rays in MLB then you have the only one who is close but not really, not when you look at history. The Rays have 10 years total the Cards have 61 years. Case closed.
I commend the Cards and I thank them for a great game and a great show. The Steelers won and played well enough to deserve it. Oh and one more thing…. That last throw by Warner, that was an incomplete pass not a fumble.
The Bird Speaks!
