Dorsey to Falcons?
There is a rumor out there folks, one that says that the Chiefs and the Falcons aren’t quite finished setting the NFL on it’s ear. The rumor has the Falcons giving up their 24th overall selection in Saturdays draft for the guy I thought the Falcons were going to pick last year in Glenn Dorsey.
What does this mean? It means that the Chiefs are trying to stock up on as many picks to help themselves rebuild as fast as possible and it means that the Falcons see a very good oppertunity to have two of the top top five picks from 2008 in Matt Ryan and now Glenn Dorsey.
IF and this is a big if people, then I can’t imagine one reason why the Falcons can’t be considered a front runner for the Superbowl championship very soon. With the aquisition of Gonzalez the Falcons became an elite offense, now with the possible aquisition of Dorsey we get the run stuffing lineman we need as well.
Remember how good the draft was for the Falcons last year? Imagine how it gets better because now the Falcons can still get their safety and linebacker in the 2nd and 3rd rounds this year as well.
Any questions about Thomas Dimitroff being right for this job or the 2008 draft being a fluke will solidly go out the window here now and show just how awesome this front office really truly is.

I think KC will want more than just a Atlanta’s 1st round pick for Dorsey – in fact I’d be surprised if they’ll take less than this years 1st and 2nd round picks – or this year’s first and third and some sort of provisional pick next year (say a 5th that could become a 4th based on Dorsey’s performance, number of games or plays, etc).
One truth has certainly come to light from the Gonzalez trade. Scott Pioli and Thomas Dimitroff’s prior working relationship, combined with the fact KC and the Falcons are in different conferences appears to be paying dividends for both teams.
As a lifelong fan of the Chiefs, I want to say I’m really thrilled for Tony and for the fans of the Atlanta Falcons. I do think he’s going to be a big part of getting you over the top to an NFC Championship. And I will be rooting for the Boids as long as he wears your teams colors. Tony deserves a chance to play for a championship, and I hope he gets that chance in Atlanta!
Tony Gonzalez is a five by five class act and world class athlete, and you folks are going to be simply jazzed by the way he plays this game he loves so well. I hope you’ll do everything you can to make him welcome in Atlanta.
