Ones to watch: Peria Jerry Atlanta Falcons

As the Atlanta Falcons toil in the warm Georgia sun and the Falcons faithful see the new draft class play.  How did the Falcons do in the draft and did we improve?

 The draft is more important than anything else in the NFL, it is the lifeblood of the league and the most compelling part of the season for many teams.

 I began to think about my beloved Falcons and their first round selection Peria Jerry. Jerry is not a really well known player around many circles and was not highly touted in the pre-draft build-up and is considered a good not great talent. But it is not Jerry’s lack of pre-draft sparkle that I am thinking about but in my first impressions on the guy. He seems nice enough and eager to learn, I like the idea that the Falcons just might have a sleeper that was selected 24th overall.

 From what I have seen on Peria’s film it is the guys motor that really speaks to me. He is a big kid but really seems to really go all out on every play and it is his smile that I feel is his asset. A true love for the game of football is so crucial for success and is something that isn’t always so common at this level. With the money and the adulation taking precedent over the desire to excell and to have fun.

 Peria Jerry is going to be a very good defensive tackle in my opinion and I look forward to seeing how he develops in Atlanta.
