McNair 1973-2009 (updated)

Posted by: The Dirty Bird

Steve McNairwas found in a Nashville, TN condo today the victim of a gunshot wound to the head. Also found at the scene was an unidentified woman who is now believed to be his girlfriend, she has been tentatively identified but so far her name has not been released.

McNair was chosen 3rd overall in the 1995 draft from Alcorn St. University in Mississippi by the then Houston Oilers. McNair was the 2003 MVP and led the Titans to the Superbowl in 1999.

What I remember about McNair was watching him get drafted in 1995. The first of only two QB’s taken in the first round that year, he really stood out for his mobility and for his leadership. I was never a Oilers/Titans or Ravens fan but I always respected McNair because of the heart he showed and because of the way he played the game.

McNair was one heck of a QB and I liked and respected him for that. I am sad to see him go.
