AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

Yes folks we have a winner and his name is Seth. The Falcons might not have won this week but at least someone did.
The birds are on a bye-week for week four and so week five will have a new contest for another keychain.

Who wants a Falcons keychain? (Update)

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 5 Comments

Our friends at Wholesalekeychain.com went ahead and sent over a couple of really cool and, might I say really high quality keychains for  a couple of lucky Falcons fans.
So, where is how this is gonna work, I am going to take the first  omment with the final score of the actual Falcons-Patriots game not a guess. Make sure to list your e-mail when you leave your comment so that I can get your address and which one of the two you prefer so be first to respond so that you get your choice.

Falcons flying to Foxboro

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

Two weeks, two wins and the Dolphins and the Panthers both 2008 playoff teams are in the rear view.
HELL YES!
The Falcons aren’t sitting pretty quite yet my faithful followers, there is treachery afoot. The New Orleans Saints are lighting up the likes of the Eagles and the Lions. The Saints feature a passing offense that is clicking on every cylinder they have and possibly a few more than they actually have. However, the running backs are banged up with both Mike Bell and Pierre Thomas banged up and surprisingly the only one who is healthy is Reggie freaking BUSH!
 This week [...]

Panthers at Falcons gameday week 2

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: 1 Comment

Fact : The Falcons handled the Dolphins last week forcing 4 turnovers and coming within 3:22 of a shutout.
Fact : The Panthers’ Jake Delhomme has turned the ball over in literally 50% of his last offensive possessions (11 of 22).
I like to look at the facts of a situation if at all possible, I want the who, what, where, and why when it comes to the NFL because you can use those facts to your advantage. and this is what I see.
Jake Delhomme is playing for his career in Panthers blue at this point. John Fox, his head coach is [...]

Falcons beat Dolphins at home 19-7

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Atlanta Falcons defense made plays, pure an simple. The Miami Dolphins fumbled every chance they had to put points on the board.

If you looked at this game from the outset it looked like a shootout in the making, offenses that can move the ball and defenses that  can be up and down sometimes. But it was all about coaching in this one. The Falcons defensive coordinator Brian VanGorder made his paycheck this week. The D came out looking strong from the first snap and never let up. Mike Peterson made an electrifying interception on Chad Pennington and the plays just kept [...]

Falcons Gameday!

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Atlanta Falcons open up the 2009 season at home versus the other miracle team from 2008 in the Miami Dolphins. The game will feature the rookie of the year and coach of the year in Matt Ryan and Mike Smith. The wildcat running pass rushing madmen in the Miami Dolphins will be a strong challenge for a young defense but never fear Falcons faithful the Dirty Bird is here to guide you though what to watch for in week one.
 The Place: The Georgia Dome.
The Time: 1:00 EST (10:00 for weirdos like me out west)
 Who to watch for (Falcons)
 Matt Ryan: Started [...]

NFC North & South NFL season preview

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

NFC North
The face lift division
Minnesota Vikings(12-4) The Vikings are just not that much better with Favre, they just aren’t. Now do they have a division winning team? Sure. Will they win the Super Bowl? I doubt it. This team has a great defense and I love Adrian Peterson and Chester Taylor and I will say that right now Percy Harvin will be the Offensive Rookie of the Year.
Chicago Bears (10-6) They have such a cake schedule it is funny. Look at it and see for yourself . They got a franchise QB for nothing and the Bears will just get better and better [...]

NFC East & West season preview

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

NFC East
The most competitive division in football
 1. Philadelphia Eagles (11-5) The Eagles I feel have the best coaching in this division and some of the best in the league. I am a big fan of Donovan McNabb and I love the acquision of Michael Vick for this offense. The defense took a big blow with the loss of their defensive leader but this team has the tools to overcome a lot. Injuries have plagued the team early and often but if they can get contribution from back-ups they can take this division.
 2. Dallas Cowboys (10-6) I am going to go [...]

Falcons continue to bolster secondary with former Jaguar Williams

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

The Atlanta Falcons got another CB today and I like this move a lot. Let’s look at the facts, Brian Williams is an 8 year veteran and was a fourth round selection of the Minnesota Vikings. Williams played for coach Mike Smith for 2 seasons 2006 & 2007 and started all 16 games last year.
Strong, versatile, physical and great hands are all words used to describe Williams and he is expected to challenge for a starting position this year. How do I feel about the pick-up? How could I not like a veteran pick-up to give an already strong team more [...]

NFL Season preview AFC North & South

AUTHOR: The Dirty Bird | IN: Falcons | COMMENTS: None Yet

AFC North
The most polarized division in the NFL.
 1. Pittsburgh Steelers (11-5) The Steelers do one thing, win. I see them continuing the trend but the last time they were defending champions they fell flat and went 8-8 and missed the playoffs but that season in ‘06 Roethlisberger had a near death motorcycle accident. So will that happen this year? I doubt they repeat as champions but this team’s defense will win them a lot of games.
 2. Baltimore Ravens (10-6)  Baltimore could be just a monster all season with a defense that just destroys you every week. Joe Flacco is a solid player and will [...]
