Kiper thinks Falcons and Graham are a great fit

Notre Dame Fighting Irish v Michigan Wolverines

ESPN Draft Expert Mel Kiper updated his latest mock draft and has the usual suspects at the top of the draft. Sam Bradford, Ndamukong Suh, Gerald McCoy and Russell Okung all going as the top four picks.

But let’s cut to what really matters. What does he think the Falcons will do at #19?

Brandon Graham
DE, Michigan

Kiper: At 270 pounds, Graham has the size to be an every-down defensive end in this league. He’s not just an Outside Linebacker prospect. He uses great leverage to hold up against the run, and as the NCAA leader in Tackles For Loss, he’s a terror for opposing quarterbacks. Think of Dwight Freeney or Robert Mathis, a disruptive edge player who isn’t at all meek against the run.

I absolutely love this pick. A heads-down pass rusher who can collapse the pocket. I know I have been enamored with Sergio Kindle from Texas for a while and I still like him if Graham is gone.

In my Mock Draft, I had Graham going to the 49ers at 17. The Falcons have shown a lot of interest in Sean Weatherspoon, but I definitely like Graham and Kindle better.

What do you think? Is Graham the best fit? If Kindle falls should we grab him? Let me know in the comments.

like i said before Graham is the natural fit if we go defensive.
I do expect we will pick Graham because our 2 possible offensive line natural fits will likely be gone.
If lipatu or pouncey are available I would jump on either.
If we dont get pouncey there is a slight chance tennant from BC will be available in the third. Tennant was center under Matty Ice in BC.

In Kiper’s mock he has Pouncey gone but Iupati still available when the Falcons pick. I love the thought of getting Tennant with one of our third round picks.

    I don’t believe it’s a good fit. I think Graham is more of a rush LB in a 3-4.

Mike J – That’s the knock against Kindle from Texas too. You preferring Weatherspoon at 19 then?

If Mel Kiper says Graham will help us then Graham will help us!! We must never question the all-knowing Kiper.

Ha! That’s funny, Nick. Sometimes he can make you question your original opinions because he’s Mel Freakin’ Kiper!! You start to wonder, well I like this guy, but Mel says he’s a second-rounder….hmmmm…
