Norwood on the Run

With the re-signing of Jerious Norwood, what should fans expect in the coming season? Norwood, who played his college ball at Mississippi State, is explosive once in the open field.

Fans will remember his clutch kickoff return against the Chicago Bears. That return led to the Bears short kicking their next kick, which led to Matt Ryan going deep and, ultimately, the Falcons kicking a winning field goal.

This is why Norwood should be returning kickoffs and punts. Lets face it: Nothing was more exciting than waiting to see what Norwood was going to do once he received a kick. With his deer like cuts, defenders were often outworked as Norwood blew by them with world-class speed.

When Norwood is healthy, he provides an unmatched spark for the Falcons. Norwood can be productive from the running back position as well, but his tendency for injuries would make me shy away from over use. He should revise his role as a kick returner in 2010.
