I agreed with you on the DE pick and was really surprised they didn't grab one. But all the 2011 mock drafts show the field is full of top end DE's so maybe TD was thinking they could squeeze one more year out of Abe and fill the void next year. I guess we've mapped out their 2011 draft for the first three rounds already: DE, WR, TE. I just haven't seen enough (who has really) to think Douglas could be the #2. I like him playing in the slot and matched up against a nickel back or a safety, but hopefully he can prove me wrong because he is with Norwood when it comes to excitement.

LOL, this is why I wanted a DE with that first pick, because Abe will be gone soon.

I wonder if we try and get another pass catching TE or if we just go WR. Obviously, we will need both, but Mularkey, if he is still our OC, loves himself some TE's.

HD certainly showed some greatness, to the point most think he should be the #2. He could certainly be our #2 target, and we do have some time to add a great player before Gonzo is gone. With the depth of this draft, I am excited to see what Meier can do.

I can see the Falcons opening up their offense in 2011 after Tony G. retires (I do think this will be his last year at least as a full time starter). So the need for a true #2 receiver will be more of a focus. I haven't seen a depth chart since before mini camp but D. Orlando Ledbetter had it as this:

WR – 1. Roddy White, 2. Brian Finneran, 3. Kerry Meier

WR – 1. Michael Jenkins, 2. Harry Douglas, 3. Eric Weems

They're not grouped so it's hard to say if Meier is ahead of Weems but I haven't heard a lot of positive about Weems making the team.
