Who Does NFL Mocks Have Atlanta Picking In The Draft?

Dale Zanine-US PRESSWIRE

It’s always fun this time of year when we can speculate about who we might pick in late April. With the Falcons not having a first round pick in 2012, Falcons fans will have to wait till the 55th overall pick for their first selection to be handed in.

Following on from BD writer Greg Huseth’s article on the offensive line and how the line is in desperate need of improving. In my latest mock, I have Ohio State C Mike Brewster going to the Falcons with the 55th overall pick, as i agree with Greg that the interior line does need some work done to it.

To get another opinion on the matter i refer you to NFL Mocksour NFL draft partner site. These guys do a tremendous job covering the draft and have recently released their new 2 round mock draft.

I will give you guys a sneak preview into who they have the Falcons picking..

55. Atlanta Falcons-Brandon Thompson, DT, Clemson Tigers

The Falcons get another player who was considered a first round prospect at one point. Thompson isn’t a great pass rusher, but can shoot the gaps a big and plays the run pretty well. Nothing spectacular but just a player who can be a really solid starter.

I’m not sure whether an interior d-lineman is our most pressing need but Thompson is a nice player and could be decent value at that point of the draft.

Go Falcons!

So a team that was at one point in the season second against the run and finished just outside of the top ten needs another run stopper? I don’t get the logic there. Peters is starting to impress and Babs is solid. I’d say DT is at the bottom of the list of needs next to WR and LB. Bad call.

Very good point. Peters is a similar player to Thompson and like you say we have more pressing needs.
