Could The Falcons Be Saying Goodbye to Lofton & Abraham?

Atlanta could be set for some big changes. According to Pro Football Talk and the AJC the Falcons may be willing to let Curtis Lofton and John Abraham walk unless they come down on their evaluations of themselves.

Lofton is regarded as only a two down linebacker by the new coaching staff and may find it difficult to stay in Atlanta under those conditions. Given the Falcons have Akeem Dent already in waiting who is a similar type of player to Lofton; the Falcons don’t seem that concerned about losing Lofton. I would really like to keep Lofton for under $6 million per year; I think that would be my line in the sand.

Abraham according to the article is considered as a one dimensional player and at 34 his time is running out. It seems like they will let him test the market and come back to Atlanta if there is nothing out there for him.

The article also states the Falcons are widely expected to place the franchise tag on CB Brent Grimes as we have been speculating they might for the past week.
