Today, we here at Blogging Dirty would like to try something a little different. We would like to poll you, our viewership, to hear what you think about this years NFL Draft, and what position you would like to see the Falcons draft for in April. The Falcons won’t have a pick until the 55th overall pick, so it would be next to impossible to correctly pick one player that the Falcons may take with their pick. Rather than having a massive list of players, I thought it would be good to list three of the most pressing positional needs for the Falcons, and vote for which position (or position group like defensive line) YOU think the Falcons should select. There is a space provided labelled ‘Other’ if you feel that another position needs to be drafted. Feel free to comment as to why you think the Falcons should take in the comments section below as well!

What position will the Falcons draft with their No. 55 overall pick?

  • Offensive Tackle (35%, 76 Votes)
  • Defensive Line (30%, 64 Votes)
  • Tight End (22%, 48 Votes)
  • Other (13%, 27 Votes)

Total Voters: 215

From the mocks I’ve looked at, there aren’t very many starting quality OT available in the second round. I don’t see D line as a position of need either with Abe, Ray, Kroy, Vance, Corey, Babs, Biermann, Jerry, and Sidbury. I went with TE cause Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener and Orson Charles could all be available, and a Gonzo successor is desperately needed.

You’re right, the offensive linemen available in the 2nd round are far from elite. Same for defensive linemen. But it wouldn’t shock me if they did draft along the line with the 2nd round pick–you can never have enough solid depth on the lines. But I do agree on TE, we need an heir badly. I think we could get a guy like Ladarius Green in the 3rd round, he isn’t much different from Charles in my eyes, and Fleener will be gone by early in the 2nd.
