Lofa Tatupu to miss start of Camp

We have breaking news from the Atlanta Falcons, news that greatly affects the Middle Linebacker position battle. The news is that veteran LB Lofa Tatupu has suffered a serious pectoral injury in the weight room, and will miss at least the initial days of training camp.

I have no idea how serious this injury is, if it could simply disrupt training camp, or if it could do as much as threaten Tatupu’s entire future in the NFL. What I do know is it seriously lessens Tatupu’s chances of winning the MLB competition with Akeem Dent out of training camp. Perhaps even more importantly that that, it forces the Falcons to make Dent the starting MLB earlier. Maybe Tatupu will be ready to start the season. Probably not. I think Dent be forced to grow up quickly and start–whether he really is ready or not.
