The second half saw the Denver Broncos defense and offense start a minor come back, and in doing so, they put a slight scare into many Falcon fans. What helped the Broncos start a possible comeback was the ineffectiveness of Micheal Turner and the run game. If the run game was successful, then the Falcons would have had a much better time of possession and thus would not have allowed Peyton and his Broncos to stage that possible comeback.
Through two games, Turner has carried the ball 28 times for 74 yards. If the Falcons are going to win the NFC South and go deep into the playoffs then Turner is going to have to pick it up.
Matt Ryan on the other hand played another solid game and has in my mind added to his stellar elite QB status. So far in this season, Matty Ice has completed just over 70% of his passes for over 500 yards and 5 touchdowns all without a single interception. He has also added 9 carries for 44 yards and 1 touchdown. Also, it is worthy to note that Matt Ryan now has 100 career touchdown passes.
Now on to the defense. The defense played better in this game against one of the greatest QB’s in the history of the NFL. They forced 3 int’s and 1 fumble. All in the first half. They also forced three sacks on Peyton Manning and was pressuring him all night. This was the most exciting thing about this game for me because it showed that the defense under Mike Nolan is ready to become a force to be reckoned with.
