For the second time in this young season, Matt Ryan is up for a national weekly award. This is the second time he is up for the FedEx Air Player of the Week Award.
I don’t think you could make an argument that either of the other two quarterbacks on the ballot are anywhere near as qualified for the award as Ryan is. Ryan was strong the whole day, and despite being under siege the entire game against the Carolina Panthers, he still found a way to lead them to victory. The final drive in which Ryan brought the Falcons from their own 1-yard line to the Carolina 22-yard line exemplified how fantastic was his play on the day.
Matt Ryan didn’t just have a good statistical game. He led the Falcons to victory. That counts so much more than being a part of the equation. Tom Brady and Peyton Manning both had fine games, but both were part of blowout performances. Their margin for error was huge. Ryan’s margin for error was razor thin, and he found a way to win.
Let’s bring this award home to Atlanta. You can use the link here to go vote. Vote early, vote often. Let’s get Ryan the recognition he deserves.
