Trufant Adds More Talent to Falcons Defense

Desmond Trufant was a standout corner at Washington.  His performance landed him a first round draft pick on the Atlanta Falcons Roster.  He worked great on the outside and played well in the nickel as well.  When he was on the outside, however, he consistently shut receivers down. But how much of that talent will transfer over to the NFL?

Thomas Dimitroff said that Trufant was their guy.  They were targeting him for over a year.  He has two brothers in the NFL and Desmond knows what to expect. Not to mention having two older brothers alone adds several layers of competitiveness.  These attributes shine as a Dimitroff prospect.  Dee Milliner was perceived to be the best corner in the draft, but even if Atlanta had the number four pick, I’m betting they would have picked up Trufant anyway.

T.D. sees something special in this guy and that makes this fan very hopeful.  I don’t know if Desmond is the risky interception kind of guy, but from what I have seen, he is definitely not a guy you would want to throw to.  If the Conrad was targeting Trufant a year in advanced, I’m guessing he sees a ton of talent that will make the professional leap.  I don’t expect Desmond to slow down any and will make an immediate improvement over what the Falcons had last year and a vast improvement to what they had in the offseason.

With two probowl safeties, a pro bowl corner, a breakout nickleback, and what could be a pro bowl caliber rookie corner, I’m looking at one of the best backfields in the league.
