Biggest Impression from Friday Night Lights

Yesterday, I went to the Kia Motorsports Friday Night Lights even at Gainesville Highschool.  Except for the fact that my playoff flag that was signed by the majority of the players through going to separate events was stolen to never be seen again, the scrimmage was very fun to watch.

It wasn’t very much different than a normal practice.  After stretching, they had several one-on-one drills and then they did 11-11 plays.  Desmond Trufant seemed to be coming into his own very nicely.  The other day, I had a hard time watching him give up a few preventable touchdowns, but last night he seemed to be covering receiver like he had been in college.  The most notable being a block he made that required him to get as far off the ground as he could in the corner of the end zone.

One of the most impressive performances, in my opinion, was how Chase Coffman filled in so well for Tony Gonzalez.  Don’t get me Wrong, Toilolo was definitely doing his job and was making some impressive catches, but Coffman was making reception after reception and we even found him diving for an impressive catch.  He made one hell of an impression to be the primary back up and possibly even the starter in the following season.  We still haven’t seen him in a real game situation except for the single catch he made in the playoffs against the Seahawks.

I’m looking forward to what this guy can do in Gonzo’s absence during the preseason games.
