Falcons Look Good Against Ravens Starters

The Falcons performed much better against the Ravens than against the Bengals tonight. With the exception that Roddy white left the game with a hurt ankle, which I will probably lose sleep over, there was a lot of good that came from this game.

Matt Ryan looked great connecting to Julio Jones several times including an eight yard touchdown.  Their chemistry looked about as good as it did in camp.

The offensive line performed much better tonight.  No sacks, a clean pocket and plenty of running room for Steven Jackson and Jacquizz Rodgers.  That’s big considering the Ravens defense is very good. Speaking of Steven Jackson, he ran only 8 times for 42 yards.  At 5.3 yards per carry, I’m very happy with the way both Jackson and the line performed.  This looks like something to be excited for.

Defensively, the run game was shut down.  Since the run defense was my biggest concern coming into the season, I’m very relieved seeing this team shut down two teams in a row.  Jonathan Babineaux was constantly in the backfield.  This guy is gearing up to have a great year.

The pass defense didn’t look to bad either with the exception of Torrey Smith making the backfield look like peewee league, they held up pretty well.  Asante Samuel even came down with an interception.

Finally, Paul Worrilow is some sort of monster.  With a sack and six tackles, he led the team in tackles once again.  Third string is obviously not enough of a challenge.  If he doesn’t start with second string next week, I’ll be very disappointed.

The Falcons are looking really good early on.  There is only two more games left until the season starts.
