Brian Banks’ days on the roster may be very limited. The 53 man roster is the Promised Land for the large amount of guys who went undrafted. A lot of times, an UDFA won’t even make the team. This year, however, the Falcons have a lot of talent to pick from. Two of which are linebackers.
Banks has one of the best stories in the league, but Atlanta is not giving him a free ride. He did his part in staying healthy and learning the game, and Atlanta gave him the chance. He’s on a road to play in the NFL. He had a tackle in both of the last two games, but only had minimal playing time. He looks like he’s up to par with athleticism and mentality, so I don’t think he should have any trouble making the practice squad, but for him to make the 53-man roster, he would have to be the best linebacker of the undrafted free agents and both Robert James and/or Pat Schiller to look awful. He’d also have to do a bang-up job on special teams.
He’s doing what he needs to on Special teams, but Robert James looks versatile, and Pat Schiller doesn’t look like he’s losing any skill. On top of that, Both Joplo Bartu and Paul Worrilow look very good. I don’t believe that Banks will end up on the team, but he will get a step closer by making the practice squad. He’s a smart guy and he can pick up defenses quickly. He’ll probably be a great addition to the squad, in fact.
