Round 2 – DE/OLB Trent Murphy – Stanford

This Stanford Cardinal finished with 15 sacks in 2013, and really came on hot in the final stretch. As an edge rusher, Murphy can play both Defensive End positions in a 4-3, as well as an Outside Linebacker in a 3-4.

At a towering size of 6’6″ and 261 lbs, Murphy is a constant threat to bat down passes, and make the Quarterback’s life one of complete frustration.  Atlanta has had difficulty rushing the passer for the last several years, and someone who can immediately start in Atlanta’s Hybrid Front would drastically improve the defense.  Murphy will be what Kroy Biermann was suppose to be for us this year, and Atlanta’s defense will become more unpredictable due to the fact that Nolan can keep him on the field in a variety of situations.
