Atlanta Falcons linebacker Prince Shembo has been waived after reportedly killing his ex-girlfriend’s dog. Within two hours of the news, Shembo was released by the Falcons.

You can read the full report here, as written by Alexis Stevens of AJC.com. Be warned that it’s a tough read, so I will avoid going into the details for those that don’t wish to read them.

"“Shembo, 23, has been charged with aggravated cruelty to animals, a felony, Cpl. Michele Pihera said.Denicia Williams called police April 19 to report that her former boyfriend had killed her Yorkie, named Dior. Williams told police she had taken Dior to Shembo’s home at a Mall of Georgia apartment complex four days earlier, according to police. At some point during her stay, Williams left Shembo and her dog unattended. When she returned, Dior was unresponsive, she told police.Williams took the dog to Duluth Animal Hospital, where Dior died shortly after her arrival.”"

This is a disappointing situation and the Falcons had no choice but to waive him. If the reports are true, then there is no place on a football field for Shembo. He was accused of sexual assualt while in college, so there have been off-the-field concerns with him in the past.
