In a very disappointing loss against the San Diego Chargers, Matt Ryan was able to write his name into the record books.

Atlanta’s starting quarterback completed 22 of 34 passes, throwing for 273 yards along with a touchdown and an interception. While that stat line is by no means eye-opening, the fact that this is the 46th game in a row in which Ryan has thrown for at least 200 yards is.

With this performance, Ryan has broken hall of fame QB Dan Fouts’ record for most consecutive games with at least 200 yards (45).

The last time Matt Ryan threw for fewer than 200 yards was in a 33-10 loss against the Seattle Seahawks, in week 10 of 2013. His stat line in that game was 23-36 for 172 yards and a touchdown to WR Darius Johnson.

Since then, 46 games have been played, and the Boston College alum has reached that 200-yard milestone in every one. This is a true testament to not only Ryan’s (yardage) consistency, but also his toughness — Matt Ryan has not missed a single game since 2009, and has missed only two games total in his career (both in 2009, due to turf toe).

This year Ryan has thrown for 2348 yards, 16 touchdowns and 4 interceptions, and is on pace to have the best season of his career.

He also has a chance to really make the record his own, for years to come, by building upon it. With how prolific Atlanta’s offense has been this year, and with Julio Jones catching passes, one would be foolish to bet against Matt Ryan having at least 200 yards in any game this season.
