With the 2017 NFL Draft just days away we keep looking at potential Atlanta Falcons picks like Western Kentucky guard Forrest Lamp

The Atlanta Falcons own the 31st pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, which is a tough spot to try and figure out. Of course it’s easy to say what their needs are and who is the best fit, but the question becomes who will be there when they finally pick?

One guy who has been mocked as available for Atlanta in some instances is Western Kentucky offensive lineman Forrest Lamp. Of course one caveat is that there are just as many experts mocking the talented offensive lineman to go much earlier than Atlanta is ready to pick, so it’s really anyone’s guess whether or not he will be there.

What is known is that Lamp would fill a huge need for Atlanta. He started as a left tackle for the Hilltoppers, but projects as a guard at the next level. The Falcons need someone to man their right guard spot and Lamp could start there from the moment he puts on a ball cap following NFL commissioner Roger Goodell announcing his name.

Vitals:

Height: 6-foot-4
Weight: 309-Pounds
Bench Reps: 34
Broad Jump: 111.0 Inches

The strengths in Lamp’s game centers around his intelligence and flexibility. Most scouts rave about how he can play any position on the line. He’s also patient in setting up his block and has great athleticism which he showed by running a touchdown in on a screen pass in his final collegiate game.

Lamp also only allowed five pressures all season long according to Pro Football Focus. He proved he is able to handle strong players like he does here in Senior Bowl drills against the massive defensive tackle Dalvin Tomlinson from Alabama.

This wasn’t the only time Lamp faced off against ‘Bama defenders. During the 2016 season he had a game to remember and proved he can handle speed rushers as well. He spent most the day against outside linebacker Tim Williams and walked away looking like a legit NFL talent.

Lamp may not be around when Atlanta picks 31st, but he is a versatile enough player that can help in the run and pass game. He excels more as a pass blocker, which is also ideal for the pass-happy Falcons. He could very well be the type of player worthy of jumping up a few spots for. On top of what he brings now, Lamp could also swing out to tackle if Atlanta ever felt he was best suited for that position.
