Hello football fans. It is I, the blogger of all bloggers back to drive you insane with honesty and sarcasm. I apologize for my little blog nap but life was calling. So forgive me and let’s dive right into free agency!

The Falcons definitely addressed some glaring needs this off season after releasing Turner, Abraham, and Robinson. On the offensive side of the ball anyway. I love the addition of Stephen Jackson if he can stay healthy. I think with Gonzalez back in the fold, Atlanta boasts one of the scariest offenses in football. Jackson’s ability to catch the ball out of the backfield should bolster an already star-studded offense.

That’s all great but my concerns are on the other side of the ball. We’ve still yet to add any player of note on defense other than retaining our own players like William Moore. I however have the utmost respect for Thomas Dimitroff and know he’ll cover all his bases. Getting younger on the D-line was necessary, I just hope we don’t draft another Jamal Anderson. There are still some pass rushing studs on the market, and TD will have it sured up by training camp. Bet your mama’s fried chicken on that.

So obviously I’m happy with the direction we’re moving! I’ll assess the situation again after the draft next month. Either way this team is going to score a lot and often. And that’s half the battle. Hopefully with another year under Nolan this defense can step up another level this year. I think it’s the only thing stopping us from being eventual Super Bowl champs in 2014. Thanks for reading and rise up.

Well it’s taken me this long to be able to offer any comments about football. Of course like any red blooded Falcon fan, I think the Dirty Birds should be dancin in NOLA today. But that is not our reality and I guess someone has to quit crying and get over it. That someone is me. It was a great season. I hope #88 comes back for one last go of it. I hope we get bigger and better on both lines. I’ll dig deeper this off season into what Atlanta needs to do in order advance one more game next season. But for today it’s Super Bowls and stadiums.

So apparently there is a game being played in New Orleans later today. Ravens versus Niners. Ray Lewis versus Colin Kaepernick. Brother versus brother. There are plenty of story lines to go around. We all know how good San Fran is. Baltimore just beat Manning and Brady, both on the road. That’s enough for me. Honestly I just can’t pick a team that just kicked our butts. I like Baltimore, 34-27. And while we’re picking games…

We may as well have a prop bet or two just to sweeten the pot. My first prop bet would be pretty obvious. But hey, it’s the Super Bowl. I’m not going to call breasts falling out of tops just yet, but I DO bet Beyonce actually sings the National Anthem, live and in person. This is quite possibly the biggest venue in the world. I don’t want to see Ashlee Simpson level performances. This is the big leagues, Beyonce. Try and act like it.

My last bold prediction/side bet/prop bet is that regardless of who is victorious, that the four-lettered mother ship will air Ray Lewis crying and whining and retiring and preaching and bla, bla, bla for the next 72 hours. THAT, you can take to Vegas. I’ve been ready for him to retire since he announced it. I’m off the Ray-Ray Kool-ade. It’s my blog and I’ll cry if I want to. Everybody knows you’re on the deer antler juice, Ray. We know…

And lastly my take on this new stadium deal. Quit crying Atlanta. If this city is ever going to host another Super Bowl, we’re going to have to spend some money. I love the idea of an open air stadium. F-16′s flying overhead. It’s something that’s going to happen sooner or later and Mr. Blank is footing the majority of the bill. This franchise isn’t going anywhere, trust me. My personal belief is that the powers that be are just letting the city know that there are definitely other cities that would build a new stadium for this team in a heartbeat. Do some research and actually see how much it really affects you before you go asking for Arthur Blank’s head on your dinner table. Enjoy the big game everybody and please share and comment afterwards! We love to hear from you, the good, the bad, and the terrible. Thanks for reading. Go Falcons.

Well we are less than 24 hours from kickoff to the most important game ever played inside the Georgia Dome and I gotta be honest…I feel like OJ Simpson before the verdict. Is this our year? Is this Atlanta team the team I think they are? Is this team going to shock the world and shut Heath Evans up? I say yes. I think the Falcons are going to the Super Bowl. And the reason I think that, you may ask? Matty “Ice” Ryan aka The Mattural.

Since joining the league in 2008, Ryan has more fourth quarter or overtime comeback victories than any other NFL quarterback, and it’s not even close. Matt Ryan has led this team with the professionalism any true fan would expect from your team captain. He has it all…size, smarts, accuracy, arm strength, you name it. He’s cerebral, he’s accountable and he never quits. You’ll never hear Ryan boasting. He says the right things. I like that. You should too.

Now all of those things for the most part can be measured. What you cannot measure however is a QB’s ability to bring a team back when they need it most. If I’m San Fransisco and I’ve got a close lead at the end of the game tomorrow, I’m not comfy at all with #2 on the other sideline. And I don’t know what team would be. The only reason I like Atlanta tomorrow is because of Ryan. Period.

We can talk about the vaunted 49′ers defense and Colon Kupperdink. (I hope I spelled that right!) We can talk about the two Smith’s on the edges. I could care less. We have Matt Ryan. We can talk about Gonzalez, White, and Jones and the problems they present. We can talk about Abraham, Spoon, and Samuels and the fits they can cause opposing QB’s. Who gives a crap? Not me. We have Matt Ryan.

So in closing, the time is now. It took a good bit of sweat, tears, and a boat-load of doubt to get where we are now. I think we are witnessing the best Falcon team ever assembled. Some may think that’s not saying much, but I think it’s going to be just enough to get Atlanta to their second Super Bowl in team history. I think Atlanta wins tomorrow because they have the best QB period. I like Atlanta in a close one 34 to 31. I hope all of you guys attending can’t talk by Sunday night. Thanks for reading. Go Coons. Rise up.
