Ragland does not have top end speed and lacks an explosive first step. He is sometimes fooled on play action pass attempts which gets him into some trouble from time to time as well.

Ragland will also not provide the Falcons or any team for that matter with a good pass rush. He isn’t good at blitzing the quarterback but that isn’t all that big of a deal.

While Ragland is a good tackler, he gets out muscled from time to time by big blockers. We got a good glimpse of that in the national championship game last night when Ragland was pushed back by Clemson fullback Garrett Williams on the goal line.

Notice how Ragland doesn’t take on the fullback with a ton of speed. It was almost as if he was caught off guard and stood zero chance of stopping the play before Clemson scored a touchdown. This is something that he will need to work on going forward.
