Round 3, 81st overall: ILB, Nick Vigil, Utah State

The Atlanta Falcons’ motto ever since Dan Quinn arrived on scene has been speed and that’s exactly what they will be getting from inside linebacker Nick Vigil in the third round. Vigil’s 4.72 40-yard dash time was very solid and would give Atlanta a Paul Worrilow vs Vigil training camp battle for the starting job.

General Manager Thomas Dimitroff has always had a hard on for the 3-cone drill and guess who posted the fastest time at the combine? Vigil. He also had the fastest time in the 20-yard shuttle and need I remind you this is including outside linebackers as well? Vigil had a faster time than Darron Lee to put things into further perspective.

Vigil, at 6-foot-2, 239 pounds needs to add some weight if he wants to make it in the league as an inside linebacker. He had all the instincts you would want to be a successful player in the NFL and if he adds some weight he could be one of the steals of the draft.

The Falcons would be dumb not to draft him in the third round if he’s still available.
