NFL: Ranking the top five offenses in the NFC
4) Tampa Bay Buccaneers
When two quarterbacks are drafted back-to-back in the first round, usually only one of them succeeds. Well, luckily for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Jameis Winston turned out to be better than advertised in 2015. Winston threw for 4,042 yards and had 22 touchdown passes to go with it. That’s pretty darn good for a rookie.
A big part of Winston’s success went to his receiving corps. Winston had the luxury to throw the ball to Mike Evans who hauled in 74 catches for 1,206. He also connected with running back Charles Simms and receiver Vincent Jackson who both combined for over 1,000 yards.
But it wasn’t just the passing game that worked well for the Buccaneers. They also had their 5-foot-9 muscle hamster break out for 1,402 yards, the most he had ever rushed for. All-in-all, this unit is very solid but may slip a little in year two under Winston. It’s hard to sustain such great numbers two years in a row.
