Atlanta Falcons head coach Dan Quinn was unhappy with the effort, scheme, and depth of his defense, so he decided to do something about it.

There was no doubt that after 2018, Dan Quinn and the Atlanta Falcons were going to part ways with former offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian. However, what no one expected was for Quinn to make a clean sweep and fire all three coordinators as he looked to rebuild every aspect of the Falcons after a disappointing 7-9 season.

When Thomas Dimitroff and the Falcons were looking for a change in leadership back in 2015, they wanted someone that could change the culture and reshape a defense that was routinely among the worst in the National Football League and no one better at the time than Dan Quinn who led the Legion of Boom and helped Seattle win a Super Bowl the year prior.

Atlanta Falcons fans preferred over Dan Quinn. Defensively is where Dan Quinn is known for, so it’s only right to take a look at how the defensive personnel has changed under his tutelage and to see if the coaching change was worth it when considering that defense was particularly what the team brought him here for.

Earlier this week, we posted on the how Dan Quinn has helped make the Falcons offense even more potent, but what about the defense? Has there been improvement on that side of the football over the last four seasons or have things stayed the same?
