It was recently revealed that Mel Kiper had LSU defensive end, K’Lavon Chaisson, going to the Atlanta Falcons with the 16th pick in the draft. This is someone that the organization should stay away from, not because he is a bad player, because he isn’t, but because he has an injury history and still has a lot to improve on in the pass-rushing department.

The Atlanta Falcons need somebody that can cause disruption and chaos in the opponent’s backfield consistently. It doesn’t seem like Chaisson can do that at the moment based on combine and film footage. Experts say that he needs to improve on footwork, handwork, aggressiveness, and balance. He is very smart and extremely athletic but doesn’t seem to have the tools, at least right now, to be a dominating pass rusher. Chaisson may have a lot of upsides, but he isn’t who the Falcons should draft with their first-round pick.

Cornerback is the smart option for the first round and the Atlanta Falcons have plenty of great options. It seems as though every day we draw closer to the NFL Draft, the more it seems likely that the Atlanta Falcons will be trading up to get either C.J Henderson from Florida or Jeff Okudah from Ohio State. With a stacked NFC South full of great receivers, the Atlanta Falcons will need an elite level guy who readies to play right now.
