Three teams that we wish were on the 2021 Atlanta Falcons schedule

The opponents for the 2021 Atlanta Falcons schedule have already been determined and it will be interesting to see how those matchups play out.

The Atlanta Falcons have released the opponents for the 2021 season and it looks like this:

  • Home Games– Eagles, Washington, Patriots, Jets, Lions, Saints, Panthers, Buccaneers
  • Away Games– Cowboys, Giants, Bills, Dolphins, 49ers, Saints, Panthers, Buccaneers

Though were are more than eight months away from the start of the season, that certainly looks like a manageable schedule.

Here’s a look at three teams we wish we could’ve seen on the Atlanta Falcons’ schedule.

3. Houston Texans

If you’re looking for a free win during 2021, it might very well be the Texans who’ll give it to you.

There are rumors swirling about QB Deshaun Watson wanting to request a trade and, honestly, it’s been an absolute train wreck in Houston as far as how they’ve handled the whole situation. That’s even worse than Atlanta.

If Watson is traded, you could be talking about the worst team in the league and that’s a free win on the schedule. You don’t give up free wins, especially if you’re Falcons who need every win they can possibly get.

2. Kansas City Chiefs

Having the Chiefs on the schedule has nothing to do with a ‘free win.’  As a matter of fact, it’s anything but.

Sometimes as a fan, you’re not just looking for the opponents that you know your team can beat. You want a barometer. You want a measuring stick.

The Falcons competed with the Chiefs in Arrowhead this past season and it would’ve been fun to welcome Patrick Mahomes into Mercedes-Benz Stadium in a game that hopefully will have some semblance of normalcy in terms of crowd attendance. At least, more normal than 2020 for sure.

1. Jacksonville Jaguars

There are very few teams as geographically close to Atlanta as the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The two teams split markets sometimes and there are many Jacksonville fans who reside in the southern portion of Georgia.

While the two teams aren’t rivals by any means, it certainly would be fun to watch the Falcons and Jaguars- who both possess top-five picks- play against each other. Plus, it would be a chance for fans to see Trevor Lawrence up-close and personal, as well.

What do you think, Falcons fans? What teams would you have liked to see on this 2021 schedule and what are your thoughts on how Atlanta can fare next season?
