Atlanta Falcons draft a quarterback in this full 7 round mock draft
By Nick Halden
Malik Willis falling to the Atlanta Falcons at 8th overall seems unlikely, however, if he does fall past Carolina and no team trades up for him Atlanta has no other choice. If you don’t have a franchise quarterback in this league you aren’t winning games no matter how great your roster is. Look at the Rams and 49ers as examples even with great rosters they were held back not by bad quarterbacks but by middle-of-the-road guys.
The year the Rams traded for an upgrade in Matthew Stafford they won the Super Bowl going on an impressive run. The point here is simple, yes, Atlanta has a lot of roster issues but if they get a chance to gamble on Malik Willis they cannot hesitate his ceiling is far too high not to take a player who could prove to be the answer you need. Even if he is a bust you took a swing at the position and can swing again in the next off-season. There is also the option of benching Willis and starting Mariota giving him time to learn the offense and allowing Atlanta to build a better roster around him before starting him.
No matter how they approach it Malik Willis is the one quarterback in this draft Atlanta shouldn’t pass on if given the chance to draft him.
