Tyler Huntley – Baltimore Ravens

Some Atlanta Falcons fans may not know who Tyler Huntley is, which is understandable since you are probably more focused on another Ravens quarterback, but learn his name because he has the potential to become special.

Tyler Huntley was an undrafted quarterback out of Utah in 2020 and he managed to impress the Ravens enough that they made him the primary backup to Lamar Jackson.

Huntley is a lot like Jackson too, he has excellent playmaking ability and is an extremely gifted athletically. He might not quite have Lamar Jackson speed, but he definitely has enough of it.

Lamar has been injured throughout his NFL career so Huntley has had the opportunity to start meaningful NFL games and even played in a postseason game as a rookie.

Last season he played against the Browns and managed to throw for 270 yards while completing 71.1% of his passes. The potential is there without a doubt, but we have to mention that it has not always been pretty for him, but you can expect that from such a young player. He threw four interceptions last year to just three touchdowns but he also plays in an offense that would rather rush for touchdowns than throw for them.

He also had a couple of games where he ran for more than 70 yards and one game where he rushed for a couple of touchdowns.

And then there is his recent preseason performance that we need to talk about.

Yeah, he threw just one incompletion, one touchdown, and threw for 129 yards. That is pretty impressive, even in the preseason. It shows that he has talent beyond his legs.

Over the two preseason games he has played this year, he is 29/32 with 238 passing yards, 2 touchdowns, and a 118.4 passer rating. Certainly, a lot of NFL fans know his name but he is still a player who could come out of nowhere and become a star.

One thing worth mentioning is that he will be a restricted free agent in 2023, meaning the Ravens can match any team’s offer and he would have to stay with the Ravens. But, that should not be too big of a problem because the Ravens need to pay Lamar Jackson soon and probably won’t want to pay what other teams are willing to pay Huntley as well.

The Atlanta Falcons might just need to go after him, he probably won’t be too expensive either since there is still some unknown with him.
