3 Most shocking Atlanta Falcons roster decisions
By Nick Halden
3. Jared Bernhardt
On a more positive note for Atlanta was their willingness to let a player who was a college quarterback and a lacrosse star come in and win a roster spot. Winning a roster spot over Geronimo Allison, Auden Tate, Frank Darby, and Cameron Batson were exciting for an undrafted free agent who captured the fanbase when he caught Ridder’s game-winner in the first preseason game of the season.
Bernhardt still has his work cut out for him to earn snaps this season, however, the biggest accomplishment is already out of the way with him making the roster. To call him a long shot heading into camp and the preseason would be an understatement.
Drake London and Bryan Edwards are heading into the season as the primary receivers. To be able to earn consistent snaps this season Bernhardt is going to have to make the most of his opportunities and outshine the three receivers ahead of him.
Even if he fails to make an impact the Falcons putting Bernhardt on the roster is a great story for both sides and gives a fan favorite a chance to continue an underdog story.
