Ladies and gentlemen, your Atlanta Falcons have officially set their 53-man roster for the 2022 season. There’s definitely been a lot of changes to this team, most notably the departure of franchise icon Matt Ryan to Indianapolis to offset Russell Gage heading to Tampa (with Julio) and Foye Oluokun to the Jaguars (which admittedly was a last-minute decision).
That said, looking at the Falcons roster, there are still some question marks at specific positions. Namely, can Marcus Mariota be a competent starting quarterback in this league? Will Kyle Pitts be even better in his second year? How will Drake London perform in his rookie campaign? Will Desmond Ridder start at all this year? How will the Dean Pees defense perform against the league?
Of course, nothing’s official until the clock strikes zero. Falcons fans, we’re all too aware of that being the case. That said, while the outside world is ready to cast aside our beloved “Dirty Birds” as a lock for a top-three pick in the 2023 NFL Draft (with some saying first overall), they’re not playing the games; the Falcons are. Therefore, only Arthur Smith, his coaching staff, and the players can ultimately determine their fate as Week One approaches.
So, with the roster finalized alongside the rest of the league, it only makes sense to do an official schedule prediction, taking into account the finalized rosters of all Atlanta’s opponents entering Week One. Of course, come that specific game, injuries could be rampant on one side (or both), but this is a straight shot at what is undoubtedly a tough schedule for our team.
And it starts with the worst team of them all.
