2. Mariota must put pressure consistently on the Rams down the field

Second to the offensive line in unpleasant surprises for the Rams was the fact that their secondary was routinely burned last Thursday night. While Stefon Diggs toasting Jalen Ramsey can be written off due to how great the receiver is it does nothing to explain away the rest of the issues in the Rams’ secondary.

Mariota is going to have to show consistent willingness to push the ball down the field and test the Rams just as Josh Allen did in week one. While the talent disparity is obvious between the two quarterbacks Mariota has the weapons to put pressure on the secondary and set up the big plays.

For the Falcons to beat a superior Rams roster a myriad of things have to happen and the two biggest are getting at Stafford and forcing him into making bad decisions and pushing the ball down the field.

Between Olamide, Drake London, Kyle Pitts, and Cordarrelle Patterson it is obvious the Falcons have the superior depth in playmakers and must consistently take advantage of that fact. If Mariota does what he did in week one taking the short underneath routes the Rams will rally to the tackle and make life difficult for the Falcons’ offense.
