4 Backups the Atlanta Falcons could sign to push Desmond Ridder
By Nick Halden
4. Andy Dalton
The Atlanta Falcons should be expected to chase a number of former New Orleans Saints defenders considering their new defensive coordinator. One Saint they could be tied to on the offensive side is quarterback Andy Dalton. Dalton is just good enough to get continual chances as a starter, but it is hard to see any team settling for Dalton this off-season after spending time with the Cowboys and Saints as a starter and backup.
You can win games with Dalton as your starter just not any of the important ones. Dalton is boring and reliable the exact qualities you look for in a backup and more than capable of pushing Desmond Ridder. After a bad game from Ridder, however, there isn’t going to be many fans calling for Smith to put Dalton into the starting lineup.
Paying for Andy Dalton will hurt considering he will be one of the higher paid backups this off-season it is a decision that is worth it giving Atlanta a boring reliable option behind Ridder.
