3 Undisputable reasons the Atlanta Falcons will aggressively chase Lamar Jackson
If you thought last year’s offseason was crazy for the Atlanta Falcons then buckle your seatbelts because things could get even wilder this year.
There is a huge question on every fan’s mind, are the Falcons committed to Desmond Ridder or will they be setting their sights on a former MVP quarterback named Lamar Jackson? None of us know the answer, and perhaps the team doesn’t even know the answer quite yet, but either seems like a legit option.

On the one side, you have a quarterback who you took in the third round last April and played four games where he showed remarkable improvement in each while on the other, you have a once-in-a-lifetime talent that could change the entire outlook of the team.
Which is the correct decision? Only time will tell. No one, including you, knows what the best decision would be. And if you did, then you probably wouldn’t be reading this and should probably spend time in Vegas.
There are undeniable reasons for each side, but here we will focus on the splash move; why the Falcons will go all in on Lamar Jackson.

1. Lamar Jackson would sell tickets and generate a lot of hype around the Atlanta Falcons
We are starting this off with the lone off-the-field reason. The NFL is a business and businesses like to make money. Lamar Jackson is a polarizing player that fans want to see live. I am sure you get the picture by now but bringing in Lamar would be the greatest thing for Arthur Blank’s pockets.
While Blank is the owner because he wants to win, not because of money, it is only human nature to think about the potential financial gains? There would be a lot more fans in the stadium and there would be a multitude of jerseys with the name ‘Jackson’ printed on the back.
Then you have the mere idea that the national media would talk a lot more about the Dirty Birds. And more fans would want to tune into their games, because who doesn’t enjoy watching Lamar Jackson destroy ankles?

2. Lamar Jackson has limitless potential in the Atlanta Falcons’ offense
Arthur Smith clearly wants a quarterback who can buy time behind the line of scrimmage and can also run a read option every once in a while. Lamar Jackson clearly checks those boxes.
The Falcons have guys like Cordarrelle Patterson, Tyler Allgeier, Drake London, and a healthy Kyle Pitts, that could turn Lamar into an even better player. How can you not get giddy about that idea?
The Ravens have obviously catered to Lamar’s skillset and that is something Arthur Smith can certainly do; after all, he was able to make Marcus Mariota look at least serviceable for a number of weeks. Give him a proven, former MVP quarterback, and he could light the league on fire.
Atlanta would already have more talent surrounding Jackson than the Ravens ever did. In Baltimore, it is basically Mark Andrews or bust. Atlanta has invested a lot into their skill positions.

3. This is a once-in-a-lifetime chance for the Atlanta Falcons
Each offseason in the NFL has seemingly gotten crazier and crazier. There have been so many groundbreaking moves each year, but having a former MVP quarterback, who is only the second player ever with this skillset, available (or possibly available) in what is the prime of his career, never happens. Simple as that, this has never happened. Sure, Michael Vick was available following his time in the slammer but that was a totally different story.
The other part of this is that the Falcons need a quarterback. And it is just hard to wrap your head around this whole situation. The Ravens should have had him locked down over a year ago, but it seems like they have possibly given a team like the Falcons a chance to swoop in.
This is a position that you will never be in again, so how could you not at least entertain the idea?
Lamar and Vick are one-of-a-kind players, and being able to land one of them in their prime, no matter the cost, could prove to be worth it. Plus, it would rekindle the days of Michael Vick flying through the Georgia Dome, only this time, in a much nicer stadium.
