1. Carson Wentz

Yes, the Atlanta Falcons have their starting quarterback in Kirk Cousins and should consider drafting someone to sit behind him. However, with the new quarterback roster rule, the Falcons can carry three quarterbacks with only two being active on game day. This leaves an obvious spot for a veteran the team can turn to if Cousins were to deal with an injury.

Atlanta's best path at the position is releasing Taylor Heinicke, signing Carson Wentz, and drafting a project quarterback to learn behind the two veterans. Wentz has plenty of experience as a starter and could likely keep the team afloat if Cousins was out at any time.

Wentz has an extremely high ceiling as a starter but plays hero ball too often resulting in sacks or turnovers that could have been avoided. This is the only reason that Carson isn't still starting in this league. There is an argument even now that he is a better option than the bottom tier of quarterbacks. While his career hasn't gone as expected he is still a valuable piece in the right situation and that could be in Atlanta. While it seems Heinicke is staying for now the Falcons should explore an upgrade.

2. Julio Jones

Julio Jones returning to Atlanta would fit this team's offseason. You have brought in a myriad of speed options and fixed the depth issues you have had at receiver for three years. Now finish the job and go out and get a veteran who can provide guidance and a little bit of production.

Julio's value is in his leadership and no longer in the numbers he puts up. Julio served as a depth piece for Tom Brady and Jalen Hurts unable to make a consistent impact with either quarterback. While this isn't going to change with Kirk Cousins, perhaps a return to Atlanta will breathe a bit of life back into his career.

Finishing his career in the city that made him a star would be a fitting ending for a player that means a lot to the franchise. There is also the obvious fit of Julio helping guide the next generation of Atlanta playmakers as they transition back into contention.

Raheem Morris does have a connection with Julio and the fit does make sense at this point for both sides.

3. Scotty Miller

Allow Miller to return to Atlanta as the 4th or 5th option and another speedy weapon that Cousins can utilize. Miller was a letdown the first time around but perhaps in a lesser role still has a place on the roster.

4. Michael Thomas

This may not be a popular suggestion as Michael Thomas has spent his entire career being a hated rival. Thomas wasn't an elite route runner but had a connection with Drew Brees who force fed the veteran on slants and short routes that allowed Thomas to create after the catch.

Atlanta has a chance to bring in a veteran on a cheap deal and give him a chance to compete to be the 3rd receiver. Offering Thomas the chance to hurt the team that moved on from him should be enticing for both sides. While Thomas is never going to be a fan-favorite bringing in a former Saint and giving him a chance to hurt his old team is acceptable.

5. Calais Campbell

Bring back the veteran pass rusher for one more season to help guide this defense. Atlanta now has what is believed to be a very capable offense. If his lone season in Atlanta didn't break the veteran the Falcons should do everything within reason to bring him back. His impact and ability go beyond the intangibles that the veteran brings.

6. Jamal Adams

Injuries and playing off-book have pushed the former star's career in the wrong direction. There are a lot of red flags for Adams and it wouldn't be surprising to see him struggle to find a starting job. If that is the case the Falcons should bring in the veteran on a prove-it deal to compete for a role. If Adams is willing to compete it gives the Falcons, the chance to find a surprise contributor on a defense that is relying on the draft for improvement.

7. Bud Dupree

The veteran isn't the elite pass rusher that this roster so badly lacks. However, his contributions and level of play deserve another contract. Dupree as a rotational edge rusher or even a starter opposite a dynamic new addition would be valuable. Atlanta is going to have to be creative with limited cap space as to how they fix their edge-rushing issues.

A first-round pick at the position seems almost certain while this still leaves one starting role in question. Bud Dupree could fill that role or be a great rotational option behind Arnold Ebiketie or Lorenzo Carter.

8. Eli Apple

Another player that many fans are going to have a strong opinion on heading into free agency. Eli Apple is a player who talks himself into the game and matchups that he can't always handle in reality. While this does result in frustration it also brings an edge that this Atlanta defense lacks.

Apple might not be able to back up all of his trash talk but he has been a good starter at different points in his career. Bring in the veteran and allow him to compete for a contributing role on a team relying on young corners. Apple may not be able to stick on the roster but is a cheap option worth taking a risk on.

9. Michael Gallup

Gallup hasn't lived up to his contract since the injury and wasn't the second target Dallas believed him to be at one time. A fresh start for both sides was needed and that could happen in Atlanta. Sign Gallup to a cheap veteran deal and allow him to compete with Rondale Moore for the third receiver role. It Gallup a chance to get his career back on track in a passing offense, and Atlanta the chance to find surprise production at what should be a cheap price.
