Thoughts on the schedule

5 days till the first Falcons pre-season game. 5!

I can truly say that if we play well, and the offense can put points on the board (easier said than done, I know). We could actually win 4 games. I know you want to laugh but stick with me for just a minute so that I can prove my point.

Week 1.  Detroit Lions: I love this match up because both teams look pretty similar. Both have questions all over the place but I do give a huge advantage to the receivers for Detroit but the Lions are still the Lions and they always find ways to lose.  I only hope that the Lions team from the second half of the 2007 season shows up on Sept. 7th because that will give the birds a chance to win at home. The Bird says: Falcons 17-14

Week2. Tampa Bay Buccanners: I am not a crazy person, I love my team but I love them in the real world. I don’t expect the Falcons to win this game but is anyone else with me in seeing this team is just primed to mess up this year? The D is getting older the offense is never overpowering and Garcia is about the only consistant offensive weapon they have and he won’t usually win games by himself. The Bird says: Tampa Bay 20-14

Week 3. Kansas City Chiefs: The Chiefs are a team built with an  underwhelming O-line, a young QB and a really talented WR (D. Bowe). So they remind me a lot of the Falcons . I loved what both of these teams did in the draft but I have to say that coaching and the ability to minimize mistakes made and the ability to capitalize on the mistakes of the other team will be what will win this one. I get the feeling of a big score here. The Bird says: Falcons 34-28

Week 4. Carolina Panthers: The Panthers look like they just might be the class of the division this year, again I have a hunch. Steve Smith will be in his second week back from the suspension and I have a feeling that he will be out for blood. I also feel that James Stewart will run all over the Falcons D-line. This one could get ugly.  The Bird says: Carolina 24-14

One Quarter of the season and I have us at 2-2. Not bad for a team that some predict us not winning that many games all year!  Let’s see how this plays out and hope that I don’t look like a complete fool.  (even if I do I can blog about that too)
