What bold moves could the Atlanta Falcons make in the 2016 NFL Draft?

With just five selections in the 2016 NFL Draft, it’s not going to be easy for the Atlanta Falcons to adequately fill all of their needs. At best, they will upgrade the pass rush and coverage linebacker spots and maybe find another early starter elsewhere. If Atlanta can achieve that in the draft, the offseason will be a success.

Wide receiver is no longer a pressing need with Mohamed Sanu on board, and adding center Alex Mack helped shore up the heart of the offensive line. Free agency was also used effectively to add in valuable depth with defensive lineman Derrick Shelby and linebacker Courtney Upshaw.

Falcons general manager Thomas Dimitroff hasn’t shied away from making some bold moves in the draft before. You only have to look at his decision to hand over the house and then some to move up and grab Julio Jones. Dimitroff knows he is treading on thin ice, and pulling off another successful bold move could buy him some time.

Looking ahead into April’s draft, there’s a few bold moves he could decide to make, all of which bring their fair share of risks.
