The Bird’s week one pickoff

facebooktwitterreddit

Detroit Lions (0-0) Vs. Atlanta Falcons (0-0) Atlanta will put up a fight, I can see this thing coming down to a late field goal or I can see Detroit running all over the Falcons secondary. For the Birds to win we are going to need to make Kitna make mistakes. I like our odds since this is the most awful team in football year in and year out (sorry folks it’s true).

Seattle Seahawks (0-0) Vs. Buffalo Bills (0-0) I say Buffalo wins in a pretty strong fashion. I just get the feeling that the Bills fans will be going nuts and Seattle’s depleated receiver corps and lack of quality at the running back position will doom them.

Dallas Cowboys (0-0) Vs. Cleveland Browns (0-0) Everyone is saying shootout. I am saying the same thing. Cleveland loses but loses by a touchdown maybe two. Dallas will look to come out and put the naysayers to rest and the Browns will take the brunt. I say Romo goes nuts!

Jacksonville Jaguars (0-0) Vs. Tennessee Titans (0-0) Vince Young had better become the QB that the Titans drafted because at this point I say he is holding back the development of what has the makings of a very good team. Jacksonville has a very strong D and Garrard is just a strong QB who doesn’t make mistakes. Jacksonville will try to run early but the Titans D will keep the pressure on Garrard to win the game on his own, I say he does.

Chicago Bears (0-0) Vs. Indianapolis Colts (0-0) Peyton Manning Vs. Kyle Orton. This is going to be a bloodbath. Indy kills the Bears and unlike the Superbowl this one will just be ugly.

New York Jets (0-0) Vs. Miami Dolphins (0-0) Miami is a chic pick to come back to respectablity. I don’t see things changing in one season and certainly not with Chad Pennington at the helm. I like the dramatic sense of Favre vs. Pennington. Pennington vs. Jets. Lots of story lines but I think this will be a one sided affair. Jets win by more than 10 points.

Kansas City Chiefs (0-0) Vs. New England Patriots (0-0) New England is a juggernaut….. in ’07 I am not predicting a monumental fall but the O-line is a cause for concern and for that folks I am grateful. Pats win big time but I am excited to see Glenn Dorsey sack the hell of of the golden boy, just once please god!

Tampa Bay Buccaneers (0-0) Vs. New Orleans Saints (0-0) New Orleans is going to be a big scoring team this year. I like the chances for them to put up 30 points per game. But the Bucs know this team too well to just fold and the secondary was number one against the pass last year. I like the Saints to win but I wouldn’t be surprised to see the Bucs win this one either.

St. Louis Rams (0-0) Vs. Philadelphia Eagles (0-0)  Philly is going to be a different team with so many receivers injured but one thing I have learned is to never underestimate the Eagles. The Rams are looking decent in most respects but that O-line just looks sort of weak. I like Stephen Jackson to make things very difficult for the Philly D. I say the Eagles win.

Houston Texans (0-0) Vs. Pittsburgh Steelers (0-0) Houston is on their way up in the world. I like how the defense is coming together and I think that Kevin Walter is going to become a really good receiver. But the secondary is going to be in trouble with Santonio Holmes on the case. Pittsburgh wins a good game.

Carolina Panthers (0-0) Vs. San Diego Chargers (0-0) Carolina is a wild card team in that you just never know what you are going to get from them. San Diego boasts the best RB in the game and a defense that can destroy you one minute or watch helplessly as you run right over them (Adrian Peterson 296 yard game 3 touchdown game in ’07). I like San Diego but I wouldn’t be surprised if we saw an upset here.

Arizona Cardinals (0-0) Vs. San Francisco 49ers (0-0) This could be what have been really pretty good games the last few years. Kurt Warner is the best QB the Cards have and the 49ers are grasping at straws with J.T. O’ Sullivan. I think this game will be a bit of a ramshackle affair. I think we see at least 4 turnovers and a game decided by less than a TD.

Cincinatti Bengals (0-0) Vs. Baltimore Ravens (0-0) The Bengals and the Ravens are good to watch since they are such exact opposites on one side with the Bengals offense versus the Ravens defense. But on the flipside of the coin the Ravens and Bengals are awful since the Bengals D and the Ravens O are freaking jokes. Baltimore wins the game on D. That is the best I can come up with.

Minnesota Vikings (0-0) Vs. Green Bay Packers (0-0) I feel for Aaron Rodgers, I really do. He is finally the man and I say that he fulfills his teams expectations. The Vikings D is my personal favorite working in the league right now. But a servicable QB and great defense don’t win championships…. yes they do Baltimore in 2000. I say Packers make a good game of it and I like the team around Rodgers so I give them the edge but never underestimate a very good defense This one could be the best game of the week. Push

Denver Broncos (0-0) Vs. Oakland Raiders (0-0) Oakland has a very good CB tandem. The Broncos have Cutler to throw balls to them all game long. I am not sold that the AFC West will have any decent teams aside from the Chargers I think there is a distinct possiblity that the rest of the division has a losing record. I like Oakland at home against a very boring Broncos team.
