Vick: From a Falcons fan’s perspective

facebooktwitterreddit

"“I believe in second chances,” Blank said shortly before the NFL owners’ meetings ended in South Florida. “I believe in redemption.”"

Arthur Blank wants to see Michael Vick play in the NFL and so do a lot of people.  I want to see Vick play because I do believe in vindication and I do believe that people can change.

The animal right activists will protest the day that Vick is reinstated and they will protest at the first game and fans will boo and mock mercilessly and to that I say “Good for you” I won’t because that time has passed,  I won’t mock Vick because he has paid his debt to society and he has lost everything and for that I accept what he did to those dogs and I have moved on. There are players in the NFL right now who have driven drunk, abused their wives and done numerous things that are illegal and unsavory and you know what? I don’t really care that much.

You know why I have these feelings? because Vick is a football player, a guy who throws a football and runs a FOOTBALL! He made millions and I own two jerseys with the guys name on them but I don’t look up to football players to define who I am or look to them for guidance. I will always root for Michael Vick, he was my teams QB for 5 years and those were some pretty good years for the most part. The year we went to the NFC championship game versus the Eagles was largely due to the effect that Michael Vickhad on opposing defenses. The amazement of Vick running for a touchdown against the Colts and I would swear he had afterburners attached to him because he moved so fast.

I support people changing and I want to see something good come of the horrific fiasco and I am happy that the Falcons got a new and many would say better QB in Matt Ryan.

In closing I say this to Vick: You did some really bad things but you deserve another chance and I hope you succeed.
