Falcons vs Jaguars – Who Earned Their Wings
By Jamie Kelly
Each week, after the game, I will name a few Falcons players who deserve recognition for their performance. We call it earning your wings. Here we go:-
DE John Abraham – Obviously when you have a 3.5 sack and 2 FF day you are going to make this list. It was a hell of a performance on TNF by the Predator, showing of his vast array of spin and swim moves in an attempt to get to the quarterback. If he can keep this up into the playoffs, our defense will be very tough to beat.
WR Roddy White – Man, White is looking good at the moment, totally back to his pro bowl level of years past. Against the Jags he snagged 10 balls for 135 yards and two touchdowns.
S William Moore – After his injury struggles of late, it was really good to see Moore back out there having a good game. He made one huge hit on MJD to stop him like a brick wall as he came through the hole. Moore also made a nice effort to catch up with MJD, when he broke off one to make a difficult tackle preventing a touchdown. He finished with 7 tackles in all for the game.
QB Matt Ryan – Matty Ice looked totally comfortable against a decent Jags Defense on TNF. He threw 19/26 for 224 yards and 3 touchdowns in a easy victory, his stats look nice even though he came out of the game at the start of the 4th quarter.
WR Julio Jones – Yeah this Jones kid isn’t half bad is he? After showing off his blazing speed on his first catch for a touchdown, he came back and made some really nice “hands” catches later in the game. His stat line read 5 catches for 85 and a touchdown.
LB Sean Weatherspoon/ LB Curtis Lofton – They come in as a pair this week. Both had solid days on defense with Spoon and Lofton registering 2 and 8 tackles respectively. Both were also able to recover a fumble today, with Spoon’s on the muffed punt in the 1st half and Lofton’s coming off a FF dealt by John Abraham in the second quarter.
Go Falcons!
