Fansided Awards – My NFL MVP
By Jamie Kelly
Over the next few days the folks over at NFL Spin Zone will be announcing the Fansided NFL awards for the 2011 season. All 35 editors from the Fansided NFL sites had a ballot and i will be publishing my personal ballot over the next few days here on Blogging Dirty. Finally we will talk about the MVP. Be sure to check out NFL Spin zone for the overall award announcements.
1) Aaron Rodgers, QB, Green Bay Packers
I may well have changed this pick had i seen the week 17 performance by Matt Flynn against Detroit, before hand. In any case, Rodgers has had an amazing season and is the clear cut pick for the regular season MVP.
2) Tom Brady, QB, New England Patriots
Brady has obviously been crucial to the Patriots success this season, however Rodgers was that dominant in the early stages of the season, that Rodgers gets the nod.
3) Maurice Jones Drew, HB, Jacksonville Jaguars
MJD gets the nod over Brees barely, but Jones Drew has been fighting an uphill battle all year to win the rushing title for 2011. With the horrendous Blaine Gabbert throwing the ball, the whole of the Jags offense has been channeled through him. I saw one stat saying he made up 60% of the Jags total offense, for a non QB that is ridiculous and just shows how key he was to Jacksonville this year.
4) Drew Brees, QB, New Orleans Saints
It sickens me to include Brees on this list due to my hatred of him and the Saints. However it is impossible to ignore his achievements this year and without him the Saints would be getting towards 8-8 or worse.
5) Jared Allen, DE, Minnesota Vikings
The Vikings D sucked this year, but imagine how bad they would have been without Jared Allen and his 22 sacks!
