As the season wears on and the number of games played mounts, more and more players are going to end up dinged up and will sustain minor injuries. As you will see in the Atlanta Falcons official injury report, the list is slightly longer than last weeks.
While the number of players is greater, it is important to look at the injuries that the players are dealing with, as well as the amount of practice time the individuals were on the practice field as well as off the practice field. Look at the list, and with the exception of Todd McClure and Jonathan Babineaux, no new players are on the list, and there are no new injuries for the players who are repeats on the list. As a matter of fact, Tyson Clabo was removed from the list. That’s got to be a good sign.
Take a look at the practice time of the players. All of the players who we expect to be starters still had at least limited practice time. Julio Jones who is dealing with a hand laceration that he suffered in week 3 against the Chargers, but he experienced full practice, and according to the AJC’s D. Orlando Ledbetter, he was snagging balls out of the air all over the field. No worries about him.
Of note: Michael Palmer and Lousaka Polite did not see any practice time for the second straight week. To be honest, things don’t look too much different than they did, and none of these injuries seem very serious. The one that I am least worried about is Todd McClure’s pectoral injury. A guy this experience and veteran, he will overcome just about anything and find his way into the starting lineup.
