Once again, it’s Thursday evening, and at Blogging Dirty that means it’s time to check out the Atlanta Falcons Week 10 injury report.
Considering the amount of time that the Falcons have been playing and that they have played two games without a bye, it’s no surprise that the injury report is rather lengthy. Sam Baker, John Abraham, Asante Samuel and Jason Snelling all received their full amount of practice snaps on Thursday. Among them, they saw different levels of practice participation Wednesday, but saw full participation today.
Jonathan Babineaux, Harry Douglas, and Peria Jerry all saw limited practice the last two days. I would expect them to play on Sunday.
Two players have already been ruled out for Sunday’s contest in New Orleans. The first is receiver Kevin Cone. Cone hasn’t been a major contributor so far this season, so I’m not really concerned with him being out. We clearly have Drew Davis who can do a good job as a fourth receiver.
The real key is that linebacker Sean Weatherspoon will be out on Sunday. He is still dealing with whatever ankle injury he suffered against the Eagles. According to head coach Mike Smith, it would have been a little early to bring him back for the game against the Saints, so it’s best that he stayed out of the lineup.
One key injury for the Saints is Darren Sproles. Sproles is an extremely fast, shifty running back, and does a lot of receiving out of the backfield. There is no doubt in my mind that Weatherspoon would be responsible for him if he were in the lineup. Sproles underwent hand surgery last week, and missed the Monday Night game against the Eagles. I would figure he is already questionable for the game Sunday, as he hasn’t practiced yet this week.
